Early Friday morning we headed out to the northernmost tip of Ozette Lake and hiked a 9-mile loop – three miles through the woods, three along the beach, and three back in through the woods. We camped just off the beach and thoroughly enjoyed the views all along the hike.

Hiking along the beach, where we found crabs, clams, starfish, snails, hermit crabs, chiton, limpet, mussels, baby flounder-type fish (can’t remember what they are called), a few sea pens, bull kelp, and seaweed.

Our campsite, just a few yards off the beach.

A juvenile bald eagle, watching his/her parents fly slowly around. It looked like a flying lesson; the parents were chattering and chirping as they flew while the juvenile kept a sharp eye on them.

And yes, I brought some light knitting.
