Scarf? Shawl?

I’m not sure which this is. It’s a wide scarf, or a narrow shawl…

The pattern is from the late 1880’s and is absolutely fabulous. Translating the old pattern was a challenge but it’s totally worth it. This almost-rib pattern is reversible and I used an ecru-colored cotton yarn so it has a great drape. I think I’ll look for a pin or brooch to hold it closed with. The ends are crocheted and there’s supposed to be one more row but I couldn’t figure out the pattern, so I’m going to wing it after I get the body completed.
