Love hurts

The worst part of owning a pet is that you love the critter, and they become part of the family. And that love means that it hurts when something happens to the pet – be it injury, illness, or old age. My pal Chloe is in her silver years and is ailing; at 12 years old, she’s quite elderly for such a large dog (108# at her last weigh-in). She’s been having some respiratory distress and a trip to the vet did not yield good news. We’re making her comfortable and keeping a close eye on her, but there isn’t anything that we can do to make her all better. There have been a lot of tears and I know there are more to come – but for now, I treasure each day that I get to spend with her though it hurts me deeply to watch her health decline.

About wonkydonkey

You want random? You got it. Mostly knitting and gardening, with some home improvements, pets, baking, family, and the occasional bad joke thrown in for good measure. This blog is mine; it is a place where I can insist upon proper grammar or break my own rules and degrade into slang on a whim. Either way, it's still mine. I love the Internet.
