Abroad

The past nine days have been spent fully immersed in family – distant family that we don’t get to see very often. In fact, I am the only one in the house who has met any of these people, so it was great to bring along Chris and the two youngest so they could meet the southern relatives.

I have to say, I love the south — with its heat and humidity and giant bugs and colorful birds. The sudden downpours, awe-inspiring thunder & lightning storms, and weird sandy soil. The shaved ice stands,¬†numerous highways, and air conditioning in every vehicle and building. The flatness is a bit disconcerting, but there is plenty of greenery with all the pine and oak trees. Right now, even the grass is still green.

The best part has been just relaxing and hanging out with family. These are nice folks.

About wonkydonkey

You want random? You got it. Mostly knitting and gardening, with some home improvements, pets, baking, family, and the occasional bad joke thrown in for good measure. This blog is mine; it is a place where I can insist upon proper grammar or break my own rules and degrade into slang on a whim. Either way, it's still mine. I love the Internet.
