I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas; we did. Ours was in four part harmony, with the day starting out bright and early with presents under our tree. The kids had a little time to play with their new toys before we headed to my sister Jen’s for breakfast, where the kids tuckered themselves out playing with their little cousins. From there to Chris’ sister’s house for more food and family – trying to entice the youngest member of the family to open his presents proved to be challenging. Until we were done, at which point he wanted to rip paper off of other people’s presents… Then on to Chris’ uncle’s house, for yet more food (supplemented with plenty of beverages, too) and the annual gift exchange (we draw names at Thanksgiving).
Kevin loves his Jayne hat, Kyle is already wearing a pair of his flannel jammies that I made him, and Olivia is apparently getting a good night’s sleep on her new mattress. Jordan was fully outfitted in his new presents, and seems to be quite happy. Chris and I have several dinner gift cards to use (hooray for date nights!) and I have a few new cookbooks with which to stretch my kitchen skills. Fondue sits high on the list.
It was a long day but it is always so great to see family, to plan for upcoming events, to reminisce about the past, and to remember family members that are no longer with us. We laughed, we talked, we ate, we drank, we played with the baby – what more could you ask for?
