Seeing purple

It has been two years since I decided that I wanted to learn to spin fiber. I began on an aptly-named drop spindle, and then built my first spinning wheel.

I began to accumulate a few bags of fiber; some simple and meant to learn on and some silky and gorgeous meant to lure me along and hone my skills.
I upgraded to a “real” wheel last year and have been working my way through various bags without worrying what I was spinning for – just practicing.

Yesterday I deemed myself worthy of the carefully hoarded good stuff and started a bobbin of gorgeous plum merino wool. I have 8 oz to spin, and I haven’t yet decided if I will 2-ply or chain-ply. Either way, it’s wonderful to spin.

About wonkydonkey

You want random? You got it. Mostly knitting and gardening, with some home improvements, pets, baking, family, and the occasional bad joke thrown in for good measure. This blog is mine; it is a place where I can insist upon proper grammar or break my own rules and degrade into slang on a whim. Either way, it's still mine. I love the Internet.
