Fun times

A busy weekend kept me away from the computer (this is a good thing). On Saturday we went kayaking, which was a blast. Saw lots of ducks and geese (even some babies!) and several blue herons. No river otters were out, but there were spots along the bank where we could see evidence of them, and the river bottom was littered with broken clam shells.

After we got back, we headed out to Lake Nahwatzel to hang out with friends. It wasn’t warm enough to swim, but we spent some time by the fire and then played cards for a couple hours while listening and watching a rather drunken dance party out on the deck. I didn’t feel like drinking, but it was quite entertaining to watch those that did.

We camped out and enjoyed a great breakfast with all the revelers, then headed back home for a brief change of clothes before hitting the road once again – this time, to Chris’ annual family BBQ. Ate more good food, picked up a few new books to read, played some croquet, and enjoyed a good hour of rather risky frisbee involving 5-6 participants and 5-ish frisbees (the exact number of frisbees in play varied because they made frequent forays into the bushes and had to be retrieved. Or not.)

So, there you have it: a weekend of family and friends, good times and relaxation. Perfect!

About wonkydonkey

You want random? You got it. Mostly knitting and gardening, with some home improvements, pets, baking, family, and the occasional bad joke thrown in for good measure. This blog is mine; it is a place where I can insist upon proper grammar or break my own rules and degrade into slang on a whim. Either way, it's still mine. I love the Internet.
