Earth & Sky KAL

I started another mystery shawl KAL*. This pattern is by Stephen West of WestKnits and while I’ve admired his designs I have never knit one until now. I like the bold color blocks and asymmetry that are featured in many of his projects.

I went stash-diving for this instead of buying more yarn – yay, me! – and after consulting with my color adviser Olivia, decided on a green skein of Wool-Ease, a brown skein of Ella Rae wool, and a turquoise hank of my hand-spun. The colors fit the name of the shawl – Earth and Sky – and I like these dark tones anyway. My hand-spun is a lighter weight than the other two yarns, but they seem to be playing nicely together. The pattern is being released in four parts, one per week. I’m about half way through Clue #2, but here’s a picture of what Clue #1 created:

(*KAL stands for Knit Along, and it’s a group of folks working on the same project but in their own yarn / color choices)

About wonkydonkey

You want random? You got it. Mostly knitting and gardening, with some home improvements, pets, baking, family, and the occasional bad joke thrown in for good measure. This blog is mine; it is a place where I can insist upon proper grammar or break my own rules and degrade into slang on a whim. Either way, it's still mine. I love the Internet.
