They see it, too

I took The Girl out so she could do her Christmas shopping today, and I picked up a few things as well. We went to several stores, and in three of them the cashiers asked if we were paying together or separate, including at the frozen yogurt shop.

Together or separate.

That means that The Girl no longer looks like a little kid tagging along as Mom runs errands, but instead looks old enough that she could be paying her own way. A person grown enough to be taken seriously as an independent shopper. Perhaps even, as an adult.

I know my daughter is practically an adult, but this was the first time I saw that reflected in how the general public treats her. It was both amusing and just a little bit sad; especially because earlier today I filled out her graduation order form. It won’t be long before this last chick leaves the nest.

About wonkydonkey

You want random? You got it. Mostly knitting and gardening, with some home improvements, pets, baking, family, and the occasional bad joke thrown in for good measure. This blog is mine; it is a place where I can insist upon proper grammar or break my own rules and degrade into slang on a whim. Either way, it's still mine. I love the Internet.
