I got the heel flap of the first sock done, and set it aside to cast on the second sock. I occasionally have issues getting the second one knit exactly like the first, and am trying to avoid all kinds of trouble by doing them if not at the same time then roughly in tandem.

Have you ever considered knitting one inside the other? Basically double knitting but without the colour changes
I haven’t attempted it because I’ve been leery of my gauge varying too much with double knitting… Usually I just do TAAT on a circular needle. Have you done the two socks inside each other?
